We all know that iPhone and Android phones are the most demanded commodities in the mobile phone market. Of course, the price matches their features – they are very expensive. However, there are cheaper mobile phone alternatives to Android and iPhone operating systems. Here’s my Top 5 list of those phones.
5th Place: Samsung SGH-i550w. A phone which uses the Symbian operating system. Has both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. The camera is 3.2 megapixel, the quality might be too little for some people, but it was quite enough for me. The touchscreen is not as responsive as in an iPhone or an Android phone, but it doesn’t make your life more difficult. Phones which use the Symbian OS can run alot of software. However, the battery capacity is that of an iPhone, 2-4 days, I was disappointed about that.

4th Place:Sony Ericsson G900. I liked this phone a little more than the latter. First of all, I don’t really pay much attention to the snapshot quality of a mobile phone. But this one really surprised me, the photos were really clear and colourful. Secondly, the phone features Symbian OS which makes a big bundle of software available to it. However, the phone does not have a touchscreen which I am used to.

3rd Place: Nokia N85. No touchscreen, neither does it have a good camera. However, I very much liked the fact that you can watch high quality video on this phone. Furthermore, it has a music player and the quality of the tunes is considerably high. Plus the phone is very cheap. Of course it runs on Symbian OS so it has alot of utility.

2nd Place: Samsung S5230. Built in Wi-Fi connectivity, responsive touchscreen, good camera quality, What more could a user want? The battery capacity of course. That’s what I liked most about this mobile phone. Maybe it does not have the Symbian OS features (which make a phone as close to iPhone and Android as possible), however the battery can hold out for remarkable periods of time. Which is a very important feature nowadays.

1st Place: Nokia C6-01. This phone exceeded my expectations. The responsiveness of the touchscreen really surprised me, I haven’t seen a touchscreen so real-to-life since the iPhone 3gs series. The phone has a 8 megapixel camera, so taking high quality photos is not a problem. Built-in Wi-Fi, the newest addition of Symbian OS, and the multimedia possibilities make Nokia C6-01 as close to an iPhone and Android mobile phone as possible. Some might find it even better.

That’s all for my Top 5 alternatives to iPhone and Android mobile phones. Note that all phones mentioned are relatively cheaper than your average iPhone or Android phone.
